CHRONICLE “The Chronicle of Russian Cultural and Social Life in Estonia” is a text that records the most important daily events of cultural and social life of the Russian community in Estonia during the period dating from the 24th of February, 1918 till the 21st of June,1940. Late Professor S. Isakov (1931–2013) — the author of the “Chronicle” — worked on it for years until the last days of his life. S. Isakov hoped to see his work published but could not complete it. His pupil and long-term co-author T. Shor and T. Guzairov, researcher of the Department of Russian Literature, University of Tartu, continue this work. Materials will be posted on the website upon completion of the editing of the parts which were finished by S. Isakov (editor T. Shor). These materials will then be supplemented with a section composed by T. Shor and T. Guzairov. The main source of the “Chronicle” is the Russian and Estonian Periodicals on the page of which were daily published data on Russian cultural and social life. The selection of the materials is based on the importance of the events for the history of culture in general and from the point of view of the specificity of Russian cultural life in Estonia. The “Chronicle” is aimed to recreate a complete picture of Russian literary, theatrical, artistic, cultural and social life during the period of the First Republic of Estonia.
