BIOGRAPHICA The section “Biographica” consists of materials on the figures of Russian culture in Estonia and includes two reference books: “Russian Social and Cultural Figures in Estonia. Materials for the Biographical Dictionary. Volume 1 (until 1940)”, author S. Isakov, and “Biographical Data on Russian Journalists in Estonia until 1940”, compiled by S. Isakov and T. Shor; it also contains articles and essays written by S. Isakov that represent the basis for the future biographical dictionary, conceived in 1993. The biographical research, carried out by S. Isakov on a broad source basis, also has a methodological significance. The scholar has posed the issues of selecting texts for biographies’ reconstruction and of the interdisciplinary nature of biographical knowledge, and raised questions on the reliability of biographical facts and genre distinctions of biographies, etc. This section is going to be gradually enriched with new materials.
